Calculated Ecological Footprint

3.9 Earths

Earth Overshoot Day - April 5, 2018

Reflecting on this incredibly high number, I realize that it is primarily driven (no pun intended) by my time spent driving. I estimate that I drive on average about 300 miles a week and only half of that time is car pooling. I also have a fairly inefficient SUV that gets around 20mpg at best.

Weekly Consumption: I was in Steamboat for the long weekend and had the best intentions to do my homework which would entail quite a bit of time behind a computer. My computer remained in my backpack the entire weekend. I did however listen to quite a bit of music on my phone while skiing and driving - probably upwards of 25 hours of music over the last four days. I drove well over 620 miles this weekend - half of those miles involved car pooling with friends. I bought a new roll of film for my Olympus OM-1 and bought a new headphone adapter for my iPhone, because some genius decided to eradicate the 3.5mm headphone jack.
